…And We’re Back

Greetings from San Francisco! We’ve been gone for awhile – longer than intended actually, but we are back and ready to hit the ground running. I hope everyone has had a fantastic summer and ready to jump into autumn. It is my most favorite of all the seasons. The coolness of the air, the weather changing, the smell of fireplaces burning, kids eagerly awaiting Halloween…it brings me back to when I was growing up and the anticipation of starting a new year of school. That is what fall really is for me, more than spring really, starting anew and moving forward. I am inspired to take on new ideas and tackle projects that have been waiting for far too long. With that written, we have updated the website – with the new city tote collection and some sneak peeks at our new Map Happy Postcards. Have a look when you get a chance. The postcards will be ready early this coming week and I will post the images as soon as I can. Our Shop has also been updated with the bags and we will add the postcards as well.

On the horizon we have Letterpress Ornaments for Holiday and Valentine’s Day, Social Stationery – greeting cards, notes & tags, and Art Prints – both letterpress and digital.

We will have a new wholesale catalog available soon – if you would like to request one please contact us!

I promise we won’t stay away so long from now on. Check back and visit us often!

Mini Update…

Howdy All,

Just a quick post to let you all know that we are in full swing over here getting ready for the release of our new stationery line. We’ll have some photos up in the next week or so. On the agenda for the first batch of notes, our San Francisco themed cards as well as some fun new designs! Check back soon for the latest!

In other news (and it is very exciting if I do say so myself) we are moving right along with our new batch of maps…I’m keeping the the places to myself for now but we will be posting soon with all of the awesome details about our newest additions to the city map lineup.

If you haven’t already checked it out…hop on over to our new etsy store!

Etsy Store Added to Website!

Hi Everyone,

We have had several people inquire about where they can get a bag (and other products)! We are in the process of updating our reseller’s list – shops that will be selling Gooseberry Press items. We invite you to visit these shops to get our items. You can also purchase some selected products through our new Etsy Store. We will continue to add more items. Check out the Yart Sale from June 10-12!

We have posted our product catalog on the website as a PDF download. If you are a reseller and would like to get a catalog with pricing information. Please contact us at wholesale@gooseberrypress.com

We will be updating the products page soon with the baby gear products as well as our smaller bags. Check back soon :)

Coming for this summer: We will be debuting our new stationery line – notecards, tags, moving announcements, party invitations – you name it! We are so excited about it and just can’t wait!

Also, new for 2009 – we are announcing two new styles of bag. The watercolor tote and the drawstring backpack tote. The watercolor tote is a 100% organic cotton tote bag featuring a hand water colored map print of our city map series.

The drawstring backpack is the perfect size for kids, special events or favors – this 100% cotton bag is a backpack style with a cotton rope drawstring.

Stay tuned for more information and pictures!

It’s Almost June

Hi there! So, half of the year is almost over and we have launched our company, exhibited at the National Stationery Show, and made some great contacts. Now what? Well, I guess now it is time to get to work! I have a long list of things to get to over the next week or so, such as – find and be happy with a new printer, sort out packaging logistics, send out press kits, submit a press release, get cracking on stationery production, start new map production, create web store, post baby gear photos and descriptions to web site, look into SF gift show information, and…I think that is enough for now!

Check back to the site soon for more product updates!

Post NSS update

NSS 2009 turned out to be a great success for us! Our main goal for the week was to get Gooseberry Press out there and to meet as many people and show as many of our products as possible. We met some really wonderful people – our booth was in such a fun “neighborhood” and I look forward to keeping in touch with my fellow booth newbies.

My favorite bag in our line is definitely the Urban Tote in chili pepper. It is such a great color. Normally I’m not a “red bag” kind of girl – I tend to favor watery colors but this bag really makes me happy!

We had a lot of traffic and met with people representing all kinds of businesses. We had big names and small names and we are excited at the possibility of working with everyone that took the time to meet us and look at our product line. I didn’t get a chance to see the whole show but I walked as much of the floor as I could and saw some really awesome products! Of course I love paper but I was really excited to see all of the non-paper items that people had on display. Creativity is on display everywhere and I think it is just an amazing source of inspiration :)

I feel really energized to get back to work and get moving on all of the ideas and goals that we had laid out for 2009.

I’d love to hear from those that attended about their experiences and favorite things! I’m posting a poll – feel free to add your own answer/comment! In exchange I have a bunch of our New York map promo postcards – for those who want to share their opinions. Get yours while they last!

The mean streets of Manhattan…

So, maybe you don’t know this but our mid tote comes with a coordinating umbrella. Well, it did until someone decided to make off with a few umbrellas from our booth last night! I guess if it isn’t nailed down (or double sided taped down) then it is free to walk about the cabin. Maybe we had it coming because it was supposed to rain today so perhaps that was foresight on the part of the umbrella snatcher :P Thankfully they chose not to utilize our spacious duffel tote to cart off all of their ill gotten goods.

We are really excited (and a little nervous) about our debut. Good luck to all.

Set Up Complete

Greetings from New York City! We arrived early Friday morning and after stopping in at our hotel we headed straight to the Javits Center to have a look at our booth space. Everything was delivered and set up as planned so we got to work straight away to do the product displays. We took lots of photos of the set up process…check them out here!

We Get to Work

We start work

We start work

Lots of people had started setting up and some were already done when we got to work. We thought it would take hours but we were able to pull it together in under 4 hours…so we decided to celebrate by going out for coffee with our good friend Melanie (but only after we put her to work on the treat bags!)

Newbie

New!

New!

Our aisle has quite a few fellow newcomers but there are also some old familiars as well.

We Still Don’t Know Where to Put the Expensive Sign

Setting Up the Clothesline

I love this idea – it is cute and a fun way to display the little clothes in a new way.

So Cute!

The colors look like candy!

Coming Together
IMG_2427
After much deliberation we decide to put the sign on the front wall of the island counter. I think it looks good here and it is nice to fill in the empty space that would otherwise be there. Hanging it up properly took some ingenuity and skill, but we figured it out.

The Gooseberry Press NSS 2009 Booth!
IMG_2428
It came together really well! Can’t wait to see what our neighbors do with their spaces. We’ve already met a few with some really great products…this is going to be fun :)

We had fun setting up the booth and I must say that the bags and baby clothes are looking really good. The map art shows well against the black background. One of my most favorite elements is the backlit Gooseberry Press header sign at the top of the booth!

Stop by and see us while you are at the show, booth #1545, and say hello! We’d love to meet you and show you the bags and baby gear!

Packing Frenzy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been running ourselves ragged over here! Check out the website…Aaron did an absolutely fabulous job of getting the products up :) Let me just start by saying that product shots are really hard! I had no idea how difficult it would be to get a good picture without weird shadows. I took a whole bunch of shots and then Aaron looked at them and said, “No, these are not going to work.” Grr…so we did them all over again the next night and he spent hours working with the images to go on the site. Well, have a look! Needless to say, we did all of the photography in house since we were in such a rush to get things up and running before the show. We will probably enlist some professional help – especially since we have yet to post the baby gear shots.

My absolute favorite bag has turned out to be the San Francisco urban tote in chili pepper. The colors came out beautifully and the map art looks great. Since we had such a difficult time with the printing process, many of the bags did not turn out the way we had hoped so if you see an “image coming soon” sign for a product – that is why. But don’t worry! As soon as we come back from the show we are going to work on getting the new bags finished and photographed.

Check out all of the maps while you are there as well. For now we have San Francisco, Seattle and NYC to look at, in 4 different styles – but we have plans for 3 new cities (which we will unveil later) for the second half of 2009.

For all of those who are headed off to the National Stationey Show – good luck and have fun (and don’t forget to drop by our booth and say hi while you’re there!) We are all set to leave tonight as well. So excited! The next few days are going to be super exciting for Gooseberry Press. We can’t wait to meet you all!
